Project Description: This logo design represents the municipality of Isparta, located in southwestern Turkey and renowned for its natural beauty. The design highlights three significant symbols of Isparta: the Isparta rose, the Isparta carpet, and the city's geographical location.
I designed the logo within the scope of Isparta Municipality's logo design competition. However, it was not considered due to the competition's cancellation.
Elements
Rose:
Isparta is famous for its world-renowned roses, making the rose motif one of the best representations of the city's identity. The logo features a stylized depiction of the Isparta rose, from its bud to its fully bloomed form. This symbolizes the city's natural wealth, potential for renewal and growth, and aesthetic values.
Carpet:
Isparta's historical and cultural heritage is symbolized by its handwoven carpets. Inspired by the traditional motifs of Isparta carpets, the logo incorporates patterns created using shades of burgundy, a color frequently found in Isparta carpets. These elements symbolize the city's deep-rooted tradition of handicrafts and cultural heritage.
Location:
Isparta is strategically located in a central position. The city is close to the tourism hub of Antalya, the religiously significant city of Konya, the textile industry center of Denizli, and the naturally rich and historically significant Afyonkarahisar. In this design, the location icon encircles the other symbols, aesthetically representing Isparta's central and connecting role among these cities.
Current logo:
The current logo of the Isparta Municipality does not fully reflect the city's important symbols and aesthetic values. The colors and design elements used in the logo appear quite simplistic and outdated according to modern graphic design principles. The geometric shapes and color combination in the logo do not adequately convey Isparta's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. I believe the logo needs to be updated with a more modern and aesthetically pleasing design that more effectively represents the city's identity and values.
Conclusion: This logo design captures the unique beauty and rich cultural heritage of Isparta, effectively expressing the city's identity and values. As a developing city, the design aims to provide a meaningful and recognizable visual representation for both the local population and visitors.
